Ugh!

So, yesterday I totally forgot about my weigh-in until I was about half way through a FOUR MILE walk with my dad IN THE SNOW. :) I don't mean to complain though, cause, I got 9600 steps in an hour and 15 minutes!

But, my point was: I forgot to weigh in.

Have no fear, I remembered today. But, I so wish I hadn't.

I'm back up to 158 again, which is a little frustrating because, thanks to Motivated Moms, I've ben able to do my fruit, steps, and water every day!

That basically only leaves the rest of my eating habits. Which, have not been good.

This is kind of embarrassing for me! I started doing part of my blog so I could BRAG about my weight loss. (Hehe...not hang my head in shame as I confess!)

But, today is a new day. How are New Year's Resolutions going for you all?

I love snail mail

Part of my new year's resolution of developing house-wife routines includes not retrieving our mail until I'm ready to handle everything it contains.

The idea is that if I manage the clutter as soon as it comes in the door: get this! It WON'T BE CLUTTER. What a thought!!

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to get our mail this afternoon.

We got a Christmas letter from a family friend, and two thank you cards. I LOVE getting personal letters. It's so fun.

Best CVS trip EVAR!

So, this week at CVS was AMAZING!!

What I got:

2 packages of bottled water

2 packages of rubbermaid takealongs

200 paper plates

320 baby wipes

5 bottles of dish soap

2 packages of keebler cookies

3 Johnson's Buddies Bath Bars

3 tubes of toothpaste

5 toothbrushes

1 hair spray

16 Soy Joy bars

2 boxes of Bayer

1 box of Excedrine

1 box of Zantac

10 candy bars

Wanna see?

If you were to buy these things at CVS (which is normally more expensive than a grocery store) you'd spend over $90 before tax.

BUT - I spent 18 ECBs, $3.23 on my gift card, and $11.91 in cash.

I also received 43 ECBs for an increase of $25 dollars AND I will get a $5.00 gift certificate in the mail. SO: I made a PROFIT of $14.85 AND got all this great stuff.

The Lord is good, ya'll.

Childhood Memories

So, the last few days, my mom has been over painting my kitchen green. It is looking sooo great! Right now, two of the walls are green, and the rest are still the red. It's Christmas time all over again.

While we were chatting, I asked her how she learned to paint (cause, I stink at it!) and we got to talking about how she never really did paint much in our old house. (We moved when I started High school.)

I said something like, "But Justin's room (my brother) was blue!"

Mom has assured me that it definitely was not blue. But, it's been bothering me for DAYS now.

I mean, it's not a HUGE part of my childhood. But, if I don't remember something as simple as paint color, how do I know whether my other child hood memories are correct?!

So, last night while mom was over, I was STILL pondering this. And, basically, BEGGING her to remember that it was blue...to no avail.

So, I called my brother.

Me: Justin, what color was your bedroom when we were growing up?

Justin: I remember it getting painted blue once.

Me: See mom?! I didn't even lead him and he said blue!

Mom: it wasn't blue unless your father painted it.

Justin: HEY DAD? WAS MY ROOM BLUE IN OUR OLD HOUSE?

(Hehe...it was quite the conversation! Mom and I at my house, Justin and Dad at my parents house. Justin and dad weren't even in the same room!)

Dad: How am I supposed to know?! (He worked road construction and was gone a lot.)

So, basically absolutely nothing was solved. My brother and I are convinced it was blue, and mom's convinced it wasn't ever painted anything but white.

Do you have stories like that? Things you are CONVINCED were a certain way when you were a child but that your parents assure you were not actually so? It's a bit disconcerting to me!

New Year's Eve

So, this is totally out of order, but at least I'm blogging, right?

Of course right.

What did everyone do for New Year's Eve?

It was 6pm or so that night before Micah and I had any plans for our evening....

But, BOY HOWDY did we stumble into some good ones!

My dad called and invited us to hang out with him and mom, and another couple at their house. He said we'd mostly just be having dinner. But, not just ANY dinner! Crab legs, shrimp, steak, baked potatoes, sataued mushrooms, champange...the works. It was so nice!

Hope you all had a good one!

My First First

So, the new year is here...and with it brings 52 weeks to experience new things!

I've already done my first first, on New Year's Day, in fact.

Some of you may think it's lame - but too bad.

I went to my dear friend Anne's annual New Year's Day Birthday party. She has it every year with any family and friends that would like to come. This year it was at her home church, from 10am til 8pm. Lots and lots of games were played, lunch was served, and a huge game of four square was enjoyed by many. It was a blast.

Why do I count it as my first? Well, duh! I've never been before - even though there's been talk about going for several years now. I'm a pretty social person, when it comes to one-on-one time. But, for some reason, I drag my feet about getting together in large groups. I don't know why I do this, because, just like on Tuesday, I ALWAYS have fun.

So, that's why I'm including it in my list of firsts. Hopefully when the next large group gathering comes up, I'll remember the fun I had this week, and be eager to go instead of wishing we had something better to do!

Twice in one day....

But, don't get your hopes up. I really don't have a whole lot to say.

Mostly: I walked all 10,000 steps today IN AN HOUR AND A HALF.

I ache.

See, my 250lb daddy's new year's resolution is to lose some weight. He found out that one of my resolutions is to walk 10,000 steps a day...which he apparently thinks is pretty cool, cause he wants to do it..with me there the whole time!! :)

I'm not complaining. I loved walking with him. It was good to spend time with him, and it was good to get my steps out of the way so early in the day.

But, hehe...after we finished he said, "come earlier tomorrow and we'll do it twice!"

Did I mention that I ache?

In other news: we've had people over to our house for 3 nights straight this week. It's been very enjoyable. We like our friends. :)

It's a Christmas miracle!

I'm still at 156...even after all the Christmas goodies. I'm soooo surprised I am not back up to the 158 I started at, or even higher!!

I have so so many things I'd like to blog about: but so far, my new years resolution of doing Motivated Mom's every day has taken longer than I thought. So, I should get to those things first, and then I'll post.

I may even break my rule of not posting twice in one day. :) We'll see.
